AS Saint-Étienne welcomes the decision by the Minister of the Interior, after hearing the opinion of the consultative commission for the prevention of violence at sporting events, to open a dialogue that will enable us to work together to come up with effective long-term solutions to eliminate violence and discrimination from stadiums, while preserving the key role played by supporters' groups in livening up the stands and the social life of our city.
As the club's management has been saying since the start of these proceedings, the only way to achieve tangible results over the long term is through in-depth work involving all stakeholders.
The club reaffirms its total commitment to combating all forms of violence and discrimination, as well as its desire to play a full part in the work that is beginning today. The club's management is looking forward to meeting the Ministers of the Interior and of Sport, Youth and the Voluntary Sector in the near future, and to working together towards this shared ambition.
