The U17 Nationals came away from a tough trip to Air Bel with a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
Les Verts, who are well clear leaders in their U17 Nationals group, will have to wait a little longer before they can be crowned champions! With OL having won, ASSE could not be content with the point they took home from Air Bel mid-afternoon.
Trailing just before the quarter-hour mark (Air Bel 1-0 ASSE, 11th), Les Verts equalised through their number 9, Daniel Epanya (Air Bel 1-1 ASSE, 34th). They came out stronger in the second half and could have won, but had to settle for a draw. All they need is a point against Valence next Sunday to officially join the play-offs at the end of a superb campaign.
‘I'm disappointed with our first half, when we lacked pace. It took us a while to get to grips with the game. Our second half was more in line with what we expected, with combined play and more intent. It's a shame we didn't score that second goal despite having three clear chances.'
